Just realised that the DOI count now shown after the release of #22 doesn't give information about DOIs being repeated for downloads/citation requests of the same data (for example downloading a whole resource which has been uploaded to the Portal once and never changed).
Just realised that the DOI count now shown after the release of #22 doesn't give information about DOIs being repeated for downloads/citation requests of the same data (for example downloading a whole resource which has been uploaded to the Portal once and never changed).
A prime example: https://data.nhm.ac.uk/dataset/release-of-data-added-to-the-predicts-database-november-2022. The DOI count will forever be 4 unless someone downloads a subset of the data (unlikely?) or the PREDICTS team updates the dataset (also unlikely).
Two solution thoughts:
We should probably do both these things? Discussion required.
