The following pigeonpea trait terms (and assoc methods) use the word 'grain' in the terms, when they should be referring to 'seed'. And in some cases the terms use 'grain' and the definitions use 'seed'. These need to be sorted out. Also, its not clear how some of these traits differ.

  • pigeonpea grain weight per plant trait (CO_341:0000123): Grain weight per plant
  • pigeonpea average grain weight per plant method (CO_341:0000124): Average seed yield recorded for randomly selected 5 plants in a plot.
  • pigeonpea grain weight of single plant - method (CO_341:0000175) Weight of seed harvested from a plant
  • pigeonpea grain weight per plot trait (CO_341:0000120): Grain weight per plot
  • pigeonpea grain weight per plot - method (CO_341:0000121): Grain weight harvested form a plot excluding border plants and border rows

Compare to:

  • pigeonpea seed weight trait (CO_341:0000030): Weight of seeds

In order to be consistent with the usage in the PO:
grain is a caryopsis fruit (PO:0030104)- which is only found in the grass family Poaceae
Taxonomy ID: 4479
The legume fruit (PO:0030100) is the pod and contains the seed (PO:0009010).
