When to use postEvent(), and when ready components?

Correct me if I misunderstood, but are Components a shorter wrapper over methods that can be called via the postEvent() function and all components cover all methods called by postEvent(), is that right?

That is, it doesn't matter how to call the desired method, or are there any pitfalls? 🤔

I'd like to figure this out, 'cause I didn't find the answer in the documentation, unfortunately.
