Hackathon: dates, times, and locations #1

remote participation should be possible, too, @bluegenes @drtamermansour @mr-eyes! |
update: the library is closed, so I'll be hanging out in CCAH 253 to start with. So far I'm not sure anyone else is coming so I'll wait to go find a bigger room ;) |
CCAH 253 on Monday - the front door to CCAH is unlocked, too! (I brought donuts) |
Let's meet in CCAH today, Tuesday, as well! I'll be there 9-1pm. Thinking I'll bring donuts or cookies. Note there's a food truck in the VM3B parking lot area, too. |
Hi folks, today (wed) I won't be in until noon, and then I'll have a meeting about AMR with Annie and Xiran. Tomorrow will be better :) |
I'll be in CCAH around 0930 today. In case anyone wants to talk about research, computational practices, or get a hot beverage and chat. (Not the same as having Titus time but solidarity is also something worth hacking on 😀) |
Coming in shortly. Should be in lab by 9:45 or so (today, Thursday). Have meeting at 11-noon, but otherwise around until ~1 or 1:30pm! |
Is the zoom link the same of the meetings? |
we're mostly doing co-working, so no standing zoom or anything. If you want to chat about something, happy to set one up :) |
Thank you Titus! I was curious to follow up the hackathon but also to ask you a few things regarding swtiching back from fastgather to gather in Sourmash, some of the cutoffs in threshold-bp and scaled, and some extra stuff I have been doing between BLASTn and Sourmash. Anytime works! |

Hello everyone, this is for organizing information around a dib-lab hackathon for the week of Dec 16-20th.
My thinking right now is to have it be unstructured time Mon-Fri where I and others are around and about from ~9am through lunch (approximately). I plan to be generally available but am thinking about driving forward a Python/flask-based Web site development project. There will be plenty of things to work on with just that, and I have lots of other bioinformatics-y things I’m ready to help with, but I’m also happy to just help whiteboard and discuss whatever projects you are working on!
Note that farm will be down so this will be all laptop & cloud. Download any data files you need before Monday 6am ;).
All are welcome, regardless of self-perceived skill level! Come join us!
My availability (w/some meetings interspersed) -
Please post your availability if you're planning on coming in person. I'll organize a lunch or two for days when enough people are around.
I will confirm location here by Monday early morning. The most likely location is the DataLab, but in case that falls through, we will do it over in VetMed.
