COSMIC Epoch 1 alpha 5 (on the Pop!_OS 24.04 LTS alpha)

When switching from light mode to dark mode, the entire desktop switches to dark mode, except for the settings window which remains in light mode. Only after exiting the appearance section does the settings window also switch to dark mode. (Same problem when switching from dark mode to light mode.)

In practice it’s far from being the most serious bug, but when someone launches a COSMIC session for the first time (as was my case) and starts by launching the settings window (and nothing else) to test the possibilities, he can conclude a little quickly that the windows don’t dynamically follow the switch between light and dark mode.

Not able to replicate. Do you have logs? Replication steps?

If you tell me where to get the logs, I can try to provide them to you right away. In the meantime, here is the problem in video.

What version of cosmic-settings, and what steps did you take before this happened?

Package: cosmic-settings
Version: 0.1.0~1736810511~24.04~eea6264
(I downloaded the intel/amd version ISO image from https://system76.com/cosmic/ just yesterday.)

I just created a new user, and on the first login, before doing anything else, I can reproduce the bug just by opening the settings and going directly to switch to light mode.

I don't think it has any importance or relevance, but I run the OS in a virtual machine.

EDIT: I also did a fresh install (still in a virtual machine), the problem appears even before the installation with the live version, and persists after the installation and after performing the updates.
